While values are negotiable and culturally contingent, virtues are not. Virtues are habits of excellence rooted in stable human nature—and they hold the key to addressing the most persistent challenges in nations, and society. They are not abstract ideals or exhortations, but hard-won, practical habits that drive both human fulfillment and organizational performance. Far from being outdated, the virtues reveal the inner logic of human flourishing and are the missing link in our pursuit of enduring national success.
