GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – (Nov. 1, 2012) John Kennedy, president and chief executive officer of Autocam and Autocam Medical, will be the featured speaker in a live, web-based conference Friday, Nov. 2, from 9-10 a.m. Eastern, in which he will discuss his lawsuit against the federal government over the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. The business executive, a Roman Catholic, says his religious beliefs prevent him from complying with the abortion-related mandates of the new federal plan.

“This law requires me to violate my beliefs by paying for controversial products that cause abortions, and it does nothing to improve access or eliminate cost for essential medications like insulin and heart medication,” he says.

Kennedy, whose companies employ 680 people, will also offer an analysis that shows how Obamacare does nothing to reduce health care costs and may actually lead some consumers and businesses to drop coverage because the government fines will actually amount to less than the increased premium cost.

In his web-based talk, which is free and open to questions from listeners, Kennedy will outline his plan for authentic health care reform. He said that the problem of millions of uninsured Americans was actually “exacerbated by a very bad law.”

This lecture, titled “From a Businessman's Perspective: Obamacare and the HHS Mandate,” will be presented through AU Online, the Acton Institute’s new learning platform designed to make the resources and tools of a typical conference available through a university-level, online experience.
