    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 14 - Jude Chua Soo Meng of Singapore, recipient of the Acton Institute’s 2002 Novak Award, will present his research at this year’s Calihan Lecture to be held in the fall. Meng is a doctoral research scholar and president's graduate fellow in philosophy at the National University of Singapore. Currently, he is doctoral research scholar in philosophy at NationalUniversity of Singapore and visiting graduate fellow at the Center forPhilosophy of Religion at the University of Notre Dame.

    The Acton Institute gives the Novak award, named in honor of contemporary religious philosopher Michael Novak, annually to an outstanding scholar who has conducted promising new research in the interrelation of religion and economic liberty. The award, which carries a $10,000 cash prize, is made possible by the generosity of Joseph L. Calihan and the Calihan family in appreciation and admiration for Novak’s scholarly contributions in the areas of economics and theology.

    All nominations must be received by August 31, 2003. Individuals who have recently received a doctoral degree are eligible to apply, as are current doctoral students in an accredited domestic or international program in theology, religion, economics, philosophy, or business.
