Dr. Marvin Olasky is a senior fellow at the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty and a professor of journalism at the University of Texas.

Marvin Olasky teaches journalism history, sports writing and journalism and religion. He is the author of 12 books, including:

• The Tragedy of American Compassion
• Abortion Rites: A social history of abortion in America
• Fighting for Liberty and Virtue: Political and culture wars in 18th-century America
• Philanthropically Correct: The story of the Council of Foundations
• Telling the Truth: How to revitalize Christian journalism

He has co-authored seven more books including More Than Kindness and published more than 400 journal and magazine articles on topics including welfare reform, history and sports. Olasky is editor of World magazine, for which he writes a weekly column. He also writes a bi-weekly column for the Austin American Statesman and occasional columns for USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and Investor's Business Daily. He is a senior fellow of the Capital Research Center, an elder at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, and faculty adviser for Reformed University Fellowship. Before joining The University of Texas at Austin faculty in 1983, Olasky spent five years as an executive speech writer and public affairs coordinator at the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Del. Olasky received the B.A. degree from Yale University, worked as a reporter on the Bend (Ore.) Bulletin, and the Boston Globe, then earned M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in American Culture from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
