Diane Baum Verploegh is a native of Detroit, Michigan. A graduate from Tulane University, Diane earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering, and embarked on a nearly two decade career at 3M Company. During that time, she obtained an MBA at the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, Minnesota) and held various positions at 3M in manufacturing, laboratory, product management, market development, and sales management that spanned numerous corporate products and core technologies.
After taking a leave from the corporate world, Diane volunteered her time with math curriculum consulting, child tutoring, faith enrichment and fund raising at local private educational institutions. Diane is married to Jim, and has two sons in college. She is an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Church (Livonia, Michigan).
Diane has had a long standing desire to support the work and mission of the Acton Institute. She hopes to expand awareness and support for Acton in Michigan, including the Detroit metro area. Diane considers Acton one of the premier institutes that recognizes and upholds the essential nature of the human person. She believes that our Creator has given us inherent freedom and dignity by His grand design; without a recognition and understanding of this truth, all else in life follows at risk, especially a free and virtuous society.
