Acton Institute, August 16: Washington, DC - The White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) today released a report in which they identified fifteen easily identifiable obstacles to the involvement of faith-based organizations in federal social service programs. These barriers range from excessive federal red tape to active federal involvement in prohibiting religious practice. The Acton Institute's director of programs, Rev. Jerry Zandstra, is available for comment on issues pertaining to the report and can be reached by calling Michael Kunzler at 616-454-3080. Rev. Zandstra is an expert on the interaction of faith-based groups with government and, through his editorials and interviews, continues to be a leading advocate of tax credits over direct funding.
