Acton's Director of Programs, Michael Miller, joins host Ed Baker on Jacksonville, Florida's progressive talk radio station - AM 1460 WZNZ - to discuss whether or not the proposals from Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to implement universal, government provided health care plans are wise. Miller argues that while health care certainly is a moral good, taking individual choice and decision making out of the hands of health care consumers is not.
Miller also notes that even with the problems in the current health care system, everyone does have access to care. Rather than having the government take over the entire health care system, we should be looking for market oriented solutions to our problems that will create competition in the health care market, increase innovation and drive down prices.
