Acton Director of Programs Michael Miller joins host Bill Meyer to talk about the defeat suffered by Hugo Chavez in a Venezuelan referendum this past weekend. If passed, the referendum would have granted expansive new powers to Chavez and moved the country much closer to a full socialist model. Miller and Meyer also discuss the Catholic Church's stance on economic and social issues in various Central American nations, international trade agreements and the danger of allowing bureaucrats to “manage” trade, and the economic and social consequences of the actions of those bureaucrats.
