The international conference brought together academics, journalists, healthcare administrators, pension reform advocates, policy-makers, and students from around the world to discuss subjects such as demographic decline, pharmaceutical research for elderly diseases like Alzheimer’s, healthcare infrastructure, insurance and pension reform, as well as forms of “intergenerational solidarity”. The speakers discussed some of the cutting-edge technologies and polices as well as the national and international structures working to provide more dignified heath care, pension and welfare programs for the elderly. Those in attendance posed many challenging questions to the panel of expert speakers, made up of healthcare executives and researchers, economists and aging experts from Europe and the United States.
