Website Coordinator

We are currently seeking a Website Coordinator to join our communications department with key responsibilities to include: continued design and development of Acton’s Web site with an emphasis on usability and web standards compliance; updating and management of content for Acton’s main website as well as smaller project-based websites; creation of dynamic Web pages and maintenance/updates of systems using PHP & MySQL; and the use of graphics editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop. The ideal candidate will have experience in a multi-tasked environment to efficiently coordinate several projects; will be self-motivated, with demonstrated problem solving ability.

The preferred candidate will possess:

  • An understanding of the Acton Institute’s mission
  • BS or BA degree
  • Knowledge of web standards compliant (X)HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL, Adobe Creative Suite
  • 2+ years experience in web-based and programming applications, including CMS software
  • Experience with jQuery, Wordpress, and CodeIgniter a plus, but not necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with staff and perform as a team player
  • Excellent organizational and written/oral communication skills

Grant Writer

We are currently seeking a Grant Writer to assist our Development team in either a contract or full or part-time capacity. As Grant Writer you will play a major role in our development operations with key responsibilities to include: writing clear and comprehensive proposals to obtain foundation grants and financial support for the Acton Institute; facilitate and finalize written interim reports to grantors; manage a detailed proposal/reporting system and database records to reflect report and proposal timelines. The ideal candidate will have experience in grant writing with excellent research, writing and planning ability to produce effective requests for financial support while working in a fast-paced and multi-tasked environment.

The preferred candidate will possess:

  • Values consistent with the Acton Institute
  • Understanding of the synthesis of free market and religion
  • 3+ years experience with writing grants/proposals
  • BS or BA degree
  • Excellent process management skills
  • Excellent organizational, written/oral communication, and people skills
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus
